Composer & Pianist

Ali Hossein's music transcends singular styles or genres. Throughout his compositions, one can hear the echoes of traditional Iranian music alongside the profound impact of European Classical music, which he has diligently studied and played for many years. He is always striving to create something fresh, a new sound, in each project; avoiding the repetition of fixed patterns. As a result, his compositions feature rich harmonies and diverse rhythms, as well as less conventional instrumentations. Some of his tunes seemlesly blends Chamber music  with electronic elements, exemplified by few pieces released on Psahzz 's  platform. Ali Hossein has a talent for balancing delicatly the complexity and simplicity, although for most performers , playing his pieces tends to be more challenging than straightforward.

Born in Tehran, Iran, on 29th of June 1996  he started music with an Iranian percussion instrument, the "Tombak" at the age of 5 under the tutelage of Mr. Mohammadreza Mohabbat. He acquired his initial guitar experiences at the age of 9 under the guidance of Mrs. Roya Amidi. At 11, he began classical piano lessons at the Tehran Music School (هنرستان عالی موسیقی - the original name of the music school) under Mr. Reza Taheri. It was during this time that he embarked on a pivotal phase in his musical journey under the mentorship of Mr. Mohammadreza Laka, who became a significant influence and, in Ali Hossein's words, one of his best friends. Mr. Laka taught him Music Theory, solfege and Piano until he turned 19. Starting at the age of 14, he also began working as a beat maker and producer on various projects such as hiphop and  electronic music. In 2012, he played piano publicly for the first time and won the first-place award at the  second Sedaye Sepideh Music award for Blind Musicians in Baneh,Iran. A year later In 2013, he composed his first piece for piano, which he titled Prelude No.1 .

Ali Hossein's passion for theater, combined with connections to acclaimed actors and directors in Tehran, paved the way for him to delve into theatrical ventures. He assumed the role of Music Director & Performer for few theater productions .

In november 2015 he then traveled to Vienna to study composition  under Professor Filimon Ginalis, placing significant emphasis on harmony, counterpoint, and musical form theory. Recognized for his talent, he received supervision and guidance from other professors , such as  Professor Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin

In 2018, his interest in jazz deepened. Consequently, he took up self-study in jazz music, drawn by its musical freedom and spontaneity. This exploration significantly influenced his musical growth, reflected in both his contemporary and jazz compositions. By 2020, he formed his first  jazz ensemble,Psahzz ; a space dedicated to musical experiments. The following year, in 2021, he initiated the Monthly Jam Session at Loop Bar in Vienna , providing a platform for musicians to connect and collaborate on a monthly basis, a tradition that continues to thrive.

In 2023, Ali Hossein made his debut as a jazz artist, releasing two albums. His inaugural album, "Pyotr Ilyich" , reimagined l emotive melodies of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. This project is a fusion of romantic music with new harmonization and jazz improvisation, set within a lineup rarely explored (piano, double bass, vibraphone, and saxophone). This innovative fusion was well-received and performed successfully in January 2024 at Porgy & Bess, Strengen Kammer in Vienna.

His second album, "Bistohaft," offers a different perspective with 8 original compositions featuring a lineup of 15 musicians, playing flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, several saxophones, two trumpets, vocals, guitar, cello, double bass, percussions, and drums. Each track presents a unique narrative, resembling chapters in a short novel.
